الصِّفَاتُ (aṣ-ṣifaat)
الصِّفَاتُ (aṣ-ṣifaat) means adjectives or attributes.
In this occasion, I will focus on Arabic adjectives to describe a person.
Below are adjectives in Arabic
1. فَرْحَانٌ (farḥaanun) means cheerful; happy.
2. غَضْبَانُ (ghaḍbaanu) = angry.
3. سَعِيْدٌ (sa'iidun) = happy; delighted
4. حَزِيْنٌ (ḥaziinun) = sad; miserable
5. نَشِيْطٌ (nashiiṭun) = diligent
6. كَسْلاَنُ (kaslaanu) = lazy
7. مَرِيْضٌ (mariiḍun) = unhealthy
8. صَحِيْحٌ (ṣaḥiiḥun) = healthy
9. خَائِفٌ (khaa-ifun) = afraid
10. آمِنٌ (aaminun) = free from worry or fear; calm; peaceful.
11. شَبْعَانُ (shab'aanu) = full
12. جَوعَانُ (jaw'aanu) = hungry
13. عَطْشَانُ ('aṭshaanu) = thirsty
14. رَيَّانٌ (rayyaanun) = well-watered
15. طَوِيْلٌ (ṭawiilun) = tall
16. قَصِيْرٌ (qaṣiirun) = short
17. ذَكِيٌّ (dhakiyyun) = clever
18. غَبِيٌّ (ghabiyyun) = stupid
19. جَمِيْلٌ (jamiilun) = beautiful
20. قَبِيْحٌ (qabiihun) = ugly
21. قَوِيٌّ (qawiyyun) = strong
22. ضَعِيْفٌ (ḍa'iifun) = weak
23. نَحِيْفٌ (naḥiifun) = skinny
24. سَمِيْنٌ (samiinun) = fat
25. كَرِيْمٌ (kariimun) = generous
26. بَخِيْلٌ (bakhiilun) = stingy
27. شُجَاعٌ (shujaa'un) = brave
28. جَبَانٌ (jabaanun) = coward; shy
29. ظَرِيْفٌ (ẓariifun) = funny
30. مُهَذَّبٌ (muhadhdhabun) = polite; kind
31. سَرِيْعٌ (sarii'un) = agile
32. بَطِيْءٌ (baṭii-un) = slow
33. رَحِيْمٌ (raḥiimun) = kindly
34. قَاسٍ (qaasin) = fierce
35. مُجْتَهِدٌ (mujtahidun) = hard-working

Nouns agree with adjectives in terms of:
1. Gender (male, female).
2. Number (singular, dual, plural).
3. Case (nominative case, accusative case, genitive case).
4. Definiteness (definite, indefinite).
Example:
1. وَلَدٌ صَالِحٌ (waladun ṣaalihun), means a pious boy.
- وَلَدٌ is singular noun; male noun; indefinite noun; nominative case (marfuu'un).
- صَالِحٌ is adjective (modify or describe the aspect of noun); singular; male; indefinite; nominative case.
2. وَلَدَةٌ صَالِحَةٌ (waladatun ṣaalihatun), means a pious girl.
- وَلَدَةٌ is noun: singular, female, indefinite, nominative case.
- صَالِحَةٌ is adjective: singular, female, indefinite, nominative case.
3. أَوْلَادٌ صَالِحُوْنَ (awlaadun ṣaaliḥuuna), means pious boys.
- أَوْلَادٌ : plural noun; male noun; indefinite noun; nominative case.
- صَالِحُوْنَ : plural; male; indefinite; nominative case.
Sentence examples using a noun and it's adjective in Arabic
In this example, I will focus on making sample sentences using a singular noun (both male and female noun). I will show plural noun samples in the next lesson.
1. أَنْتَ ذَكِيٌّ (anta dhakiyyun).
You are smart.
2. أَنْتِ جَمِيْلَةٌ (anti jamiilatun).
You are pretty.
3. أَنَا طَوِيْلٌ (anaa ṭawiilun)
I'm tall.
4. هُوَ شُجَاعٌ (huwa shujaa'un)
He is brave.
5. هِيَ نَشِيْطَةٌ (hiya nashiiṭatun)
She is diligent.
6. أَحْمَدُ رَجُلٌ فَرْحَانٌ (ahmadu rajulun farḥaanun)
Ahmad is a cheerful boy.
7. هِيَ طَالِبَةٌ مُجْتَهِدَةٌ (hiya ṭaalibatun mujtahidatun)
She is a hard-working student.
8. أَنْتَ لَسْتَ سَعِيْدًا (anta lasta sa'iidun)
You are not happy
9. هُوَ لَيْسَ خَائِفًا (huwa laysa khaa-ifan)
He is not afraid.
10. أَنَا لَسْتُ بَخِيْلاً (anaa lastu bakhiilan)
I'm not stingy.
11. فَاطِمَةُ امْرَأَةٌ قَوِيَّةٌ (faaṭimatu imra-atun qawiyyatun)
Fatima is a strong woman.
12. هَلْ هَذَا الْعَامِلُ مُجْتَهِدٌ ؟ (hal hadhaa al-'aamilu mujtahidun?)
نَعَمْ. هُوَ مُجْتَهِدٌ (na'am. huwa mujtahidun).
Is this worker diligent?
