Today, we are going to build our Arabic vocabulary up by reading a short conversation between two friends.
I will write the conversation in Arabic, then I translate it into English.
In addition to this, I will explain to you word by word translation, the meaning of the word and also the explanation.
The title is Exam preparation. It contains a short conversation between two friends in the school.

- أَهْلاً means welcome; hello; hi
- يَا is حَرْفُ نِدَاءٍ = vocative particle.
يَا أَحْمَدُ means O Ahmad!
- أَهْلاً يَا عُمَرُ : see the explanation of point number 1.
- بَارَكَ اللّهُ فَيكَ is an Arabic expression to pray for someone.
بَارَكَ اللّهُ فَيكَ in English: May Allah bless you.
- أَرَى is fi'il mudaari' which means I see.
letter كَ in أَرَاكَ is an object. It means you.
Therefore أَرَاكَ means I see you.
أَرَى comes from the basic form: رَأَى - يَرَى
رَأَى - يَرَى means see; notice.
- تُرَاجِعُ is fi'il mudaari' that means review.
تُرَاجِعُ comes from the basic verb رَاجَعَ - يُرَاجِعُ
رَاجَعَ - يُرَاجِعُ means review; revise; repeat.

For example:
If you want to know what is the meaning of تُرَاجِعُ, you have to know the basic form (رَاجَعَ), so you can search the meaning of رَاجَعَ in the dictionary.

- الدُّرُوْس means lessons.
دُرُوْسٌ is the plural form.
The singular form of دُرُوْسٌ is دَرْسٌ
دَرْسٌ means lesson.
- مَتَى means when
ظرفٌ يكون استفهامًا عن زمان = question about time => when
- الاِخْتِبَارُ means examination; exam; test.
اِخْتِبَارٌ is singular, the plural form is اِخْتِبَارَاتٌ
- الاِخْتِبَارُ means the test; the exam.
The synonym of اِخْتِبَارٌ is اِمْتِحَانٌ
- فِي = in; at
- الأُسْبُوعِ الْقَادِمِ means next week.
last week in Arabic = الأُسْبُوعِ المَاضِى
- هَلْ is حَرْفُ اسْتِفْهام or interrogative particle.
- اسْتَعْدَدْتَ means ready.
اسْتَعْدَدْتَ comes from the basic verb form: اِسْتَعَدَّ - يَسْتَعِدُّ
اِسْتَعَدَّ - يَسْتَعِدُّ means ready; get ready; prepare for (an action)
- نَعَمْ is حَرْفُ جَوَابٍ or particle (letter) for answering the question.
نَعَمْ means yes, whereas لاَ means no.
- اسْتَعْدَدْتُ means I've prepared; I've been ready; I've got ready.
اسْتَعْدَدْتُ comes from the basic verb form: اِسْتَعَدَّ - يَسْتَعِدُّ
- رَاجَعْتُ means I reviewed.
رَاجَعْتُ comes from the basic form: رَاجَعَ - يُرَاجِعُ
- الدُّرُوسَ means the lessons.
- كُلَّهَا means all
كُلٌّ means all; whole; every; each.
letter هَا in كُلَّهَا is damir (pronoun) that refers to الدُّرُوسَ
- سَأَسْتَعِدَّ means I will prepare
letter سَ in سَأَسْتَعِدَّ shows future time/tense => will
- أَيْضًا means also; as well as
- غَدًا means tomorrow
- مَعَ النَّجَاحِ is an Arabic expression to pray for someone to succeed.
- فِي الأِخْتِبَارِ means on the exam or on the test.
- شُكْرًا is an Arabic expression for thanking someone.
- وَأَنْتَ كَذَالِكَ is an Arabic expression, it likes "me too", "so do you", "you are too", etc. in English expression.

Word by word translation & word explanation
1. أَهْلاً يَا أَحْمَدُ = Hi Ahmad!
- أَهْلاً means welcome; hello; hi
- يَا is حَرْفُ نِدَاءٍ = vocative particle.
يَا أَحْمَدُ means O Ahmad!
2. أَهْلاً يَا عُمَرُ, بَارَكَ اللّهُ فِيكَ means Hello Umar, May Allah bless you.
- أَهْلاً يَا عُمَرُ : see the explanation of point number 1.
- بَارَكَ اللّهُ فَيكَ is an Arabic expression to pray for someone.
بَارَكَ اللّهُ فَيكَ in English: May Allah bless you.
3. أَرَاكَ تُرَاجِعُ الدُّرُوْسَ , مَتَى الاِخْتِبَارُ ؟ means: I see you reviewing the lessons, when is the exam?
- أَرَى is fi'il mudaari' which means I see.
letter كَ in أَرَاكَ is an object. It means you.
Therefore أَرَاكَ means I see you.
أَرَى comes from the basic form: رَأَى - يَرَى
رَأَى - يَرَى means see; notice.
- تُرَاجِعُ is fi'il mudaari' that means review.
تُرَاجِعُ comes from the basic verb رَاجَعَ - يُرَاجِعُ
رَاجَعَ - يُرَاجِعُ means review; revise; repeat.
