Today,  I will show you furniture in Arabic (words about furniture). I will say it in Arabic and you must follow saying it. Then I will mention the translation in English.

List of  Furniture in Arabic and the meaning in English


- أَثَاثٌ = furniture


- أَرِيْكَةٌ means a sofa; a couch

Plural form of أَرِيْكَةٌ is => أَرَائِكُ = sofas; couches


- مَقْعَدٌ means a chair

The synonym of مَقْعَدٌ is => كُرْسِيٌّ

The plural form of مَقْعَدٌ is => مَقَاعِدُ = chairs.


- مَكْتَبٌ   means a desk; a table.

Plural form of مَكْتَبٌ is => مَكَاتِبُ


- سَجَّادَةٌ    means a carpet

The plural form of سَجَّادَاتٌ  is => سَجَّادَاتٌ = carpets.


- سَاعَةُ الجِدَارِ   means a clock



- خِزَانَةٌ  means cupboard; chest

Plural form of  خِزَانَةٌ is => خَزَائِنُ = cupboards



- رَفٌّ  means shelf; rack

Plural form of  رَفٌّ is => رُفُوفٌ = racks



Sentence Example in Arabic and it's meaning


- أُرِيْدُ بَعْضَ الأَثَاثِ
The sentence in English : I want some furniture.

أُرِيْدُ  means I want.

بَعْضَ  means some.

الأَثَاثِ means furniture.


 - مَاذَا تُرِيْدُ لِلْبَيْتِ؟
The translation : What do you want for the home?

مَاذَا  means what.

تُرِيْدُ  means you want

لِ  means for.

البَيْتِ  means the home.



In this lesson, we have already known the verb "want" in Arabic.

أَرَادَ  means he wanted (past tense)

يُرِيدُ means he wants (present tense)



- جَلَسْتُ عَلَى الأَرِيْكَةِ
The translation in English : I sit on the sofa.


جَلَسْتُ  means I sit.


عَلَى  means on.


الأَرِيْكَةِ means the sofa.


In this lesson, we have already known the verb "sit" in Arabic.


جَلَسَ  means he sat

يَجْلِسُ  means he sits



- الحَقِيْبَةُ عَلَى المَكْتَبِ
The sentence in English : The bag is on the table.


الحَقِيْبَةُ  means the bag.

عَلَى  means on.

المَكْتَبِ  means the table.



- أَعِنْدَكَ سَاعَةُ الجِدَارِ؟
The sentence in English : Do you have a clock?


أَ is adatul istifham or question word.

عِنْدَ  means own =>  عِنْدَكَ means you have

سَاعَةُ الجِدَارِ  means a clock.
