Ramadan activities & things related to Ramadan in Arabic Language


أَعْمَالٌ فِيْ رَمَضَان

أَعْمَالٌ  is the plural form of   عَمَلٌ .

- عَمَلٌ  means work; deed; doing; activity.

- فِيْ  means in; at

- رَمَضَان   means the month of Ramadan

Therefore the complete meaning of the above sentence is => Activities in Ramadan.



شَهْرٌ 

Sentence example of this word in arabic :

يَصُومُ الْمُسْلِمُ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ


- شَهْرٌ  means month

- شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ  = month of Ramadan

-  الْمُسْلِمُ  = muslim person

- يَصُومُ is fi3il mudari3, fi3il madi form of the verb يَصُومُ is  = >  صَامَ

- صَامَ means he fasted

- يَصُومُ  means he fasts; he is fasting


So, the complete translation is => Muslim fasts in the month of Ramadan.



هِلَالٌ  

Sentence example :  إِثْبَاتُ رَمَضَان بِرُؤْيَةِ الهِلاَلِ


- هِلَالٌ   means crescent.

-  أثْبَتَ  is masdar form of  أثْبَتَ  which means confirm; affirm; determine, so أثْبَتَ   means confirmation; affirmation; determination.

- رُؤْيَةٌ is masdar form of   رَأَى.

- رَأَى is fi3l maadi. It means see; view; observe; notice.

- رُؤْيَةٌ  means seeing; sighting; viewing; looking.


Therefore the translation is => Confirming Ramadan is by moon sighting.

moon sighting, that is to say seeing the crescent moon.



صَوْمٌ  

Sentence example :  الصَّوْمُ رَمَضَانَ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِم

The sentence in English : Fasting Ramadan is obligatory upon every Muslim.


- صَوْمٌ  is masdar form (noun) from the verb  صَامَ.

-  صَوْمٌ   means fasting.

- وَاجِبٌ  means obligatory

- عَلَى  means upon

- كُلُّ  means every





صَائِمٌ  

Sentence example : أَنَا صَائِمٌ فِيْ رَمَضَان

أَنَا صَائِمٌ فِيْ رَمَضَان   in English => I'm a person who perform fasting in Ramadan.


- صَائِمٌ  means  the person who is fasting

- أَنَا  means I



فَجْرٌ


- dawn in arabic is =>  فَجْرٌ

- sink in arabic is =>   غُرُوبٌ


Sentence example using word dawn and sunset in arabic :

الصَّوْمُ  مِنْ مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ

The meaning of  the sentence above is => Fasting is starting from dawn until sunset.


- مِنْ  means from

- إِلَى  means up to; until

- مَطْلَعٌ is noun. It is masdar form of the verb طَلَعَ

- طَلَعَ  means rise; go up; ascend; appear

- مَطْلَعٌ  means  rising; beginning.

So مَطْلَعُ الفَجْرِ  means the appearing dawn; the rising of the dawn.


- غُرُوبٌ  is masdar of the fi3il  غَرَبَ

- غَرَبَ means set; sink

- غُرُوبٌ   means sinking; going west.

so  غُرُوبُ الشَّمْسِ means the sunset.



صَامَ - يَصُومُ  


Sentence example :  صُمْتُ مِنْ مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ


- صُمْتُ  is the fi3il madi for أَنَا  form. Therefore صُمْتُ   means I fasted, whereas  صَامَ  means he fasted.

صُمْتُ مِنْ مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ  means I fasted from dawn until sunset.



   إِفْطَارٌ    

Sentence example :  دَخَلَ فِي وَقْتِ الِإفْطَارِ

- إِفْطَارٌ   is masdar form of  أَفْطَرَ

- إِفْطَارٌ   means having breakfast; breaking fast

The meaning of the sentence دَخَلَ فِي وَقْتِ الِإفْطَارِ  is => He entered the breaking fast time.



أَفْطَرَ - يُفْطِرُ  


- أَفْطَرَ  means he had breakfast.

- تَمْرٌ  means dates (date-palm fruits).


Sentence example :  أَفْطَرَ بِتَمْرٍ

 أَفْطَرَ بِتَمْرٍ   means  He had breakfast with dates.

- تَرَاوِيْحُ  means  prayer performed at night during Ramadan (noun/ism)


- اِعتِكاف  = seclusion in the Mosque in the last 10 nights of Ramadan (noun/ism)


- اِعتَكَفَ - يعتكف  = seclude in the mosque in the last 10 nights of ramadan (verb/fi3l)


- مُعتكِف  = the person who performs seclusion in the mosque in the last 10 nights of Ramadan


- لَيْلَةُ القدر  =  laylatul qadr


هي الليلة التي نزل فيها القرآن الكريم  = It is the night when the Noble Quran is revealed.


- دَعَا - يَدْعُو  = pray/invoke

دَعَا  is fi3il maadi . It means He invoked.

يَدْعُو   is fi3il mudaari3. It means He is invoking.



- دُعَاءٌ  = supplication


- تَصَدَّقَ - يَتَصَدَّقُ  = give charity

 تَصَدَّقَ عَلَى الفُقَرَاءِ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ  means He gave the charity to the poor at the festive day.



-  مُتصدِّق  = the person who gives charity


- قرَأَ - يَقرَأ  =  read

قرأ القرآنَ  = he read the noble Quran


- سَاعَدَ - يُسَاعِدُ  = to help
