We are going to learn the direction or position in Arabic.
Below are the word direction and position in Arabic:
a direction in Arabic is جِهَةٌ (jihatun).
Directions in Arabic is جِهَاتٌ (jihaatun).
Position in Arabic is مَكَانَةٌ (makaanatun).
Positions in Arabic is مَكَانَاتٌ (makaanaatun).
Position in Arabic and sentence examples
1. تَحْتَ (tahta), means under/below.
يَنَامُ القِطُّ تَحْتَ الكُرْسِيِّ (yanaamu al-qiṭṭu taḥta al-kursiyyi).
The cat sleeps under the chair.
2. عَلَى ('alaa), means on.
الكُرَةُ عَلَى المَكْتَبِ (al-kuratu 'alaa al-maktabi).
The ball is on the table.
3. أَمَامَ (amaama), means in front of; opposite to.
السَّيَّارَةُ أَمَامَ البَيْتِ (as-sayyaaratu amaama al-bayti).
The car is in front of the house.
4. خَلْفَ (khalfa), means behind; back.
تَقِفُ مَرْيَمُ خَلْفَ أُمِّهَا (taqifu maryamu khalfa ummihaa)
Maryam stands behind her mother.
5. فَوْقَ (fawqa), means above.
الطَّائِرَةُ فَوْقَ المَدِيْنَةِ (aṭ-ṭaa-iratu fawqa al-madiinati).
The plane is above the city.
6. وَسَطَ (wasaṭa), means middle; center.
أَبِيْ وَسَطَ زَوْجَاتِهِ (abii wasaṭa zawjaatihi).
My father is in the middle of his wives.
7. بَيْنَ (bayna), means between.
القَلَمُ بَيْنَ كِتَابَيْنِ (al-qalamu bayna kitaabayni).
The pen is between two books.
8. دَاخِلَ (daakhila), means inside.
أَحْمَدُ دَاخِلَ السَّيَّارَةِ (Aḥmadu daakhila as-sayyaarati).
Ahmad is inside the car.
9. فِي (fii), means in.
أَيْنَ الطُّلاَّبُ ؟ (ayna aṭ-ṭullaabu?)
Where are the students?
الطُّلاَّبُ فِي الفَصْلِ (aṭ-ṭullaabu fii al-faṣli).
The students is in the class.
10. حَوْلَ (ḥawla), means around.
يَجْلِسُ الأَوْلاَدُ حَوْلَ الطَّاوِلَةِ (yajlisu al-awlaadu ḥawla aṭ-ṭaawilati).
The boys sit around the table.
11. عِنْدَ ('inda), means with.
أَيْنَ المُدَرِّسُ ؟ (ayna al-mudarrisu?)
Where is the teacher?
المُدَرِّسُ عِنْدَ المُدِيْرِ (al-mudarrisu 'inda al-mudiiri).
The teacher is with the headmaster.
12. خَارِجَ (khaarija), means outside.
المُدَرِّسُ خَارِجَ الفَصْلِ (al-mudarrisu khaarija al-faṣli).
The teacher is outside the class.

غَرْبًا (gharban) means west.
شَرْقًا (sharqan) means east.
شَمَالاً (shamaalan) means north.
جَنُوبًا (januuban) means south.
شِمَالاً (shimaalan) or يَسَارًا ( yasaaran ) means left.
يَمِينًا (yamiinan) means right.
بِجَانِبِ (bijaanibi) means beside.
