This is the text version from Vacation Short Story in Arabic with English Translation - عُطْلَةٌ

1. هَذَا الأُسْبُوْعُ عُطْلَةٌ  = This week is holiday.


a. هَذَا  (haadhaa) is demonstrative pronoun for near (at a close range from the speaker).

b. We use haadhaa (demonstrative pronoun for masculine singular) because الأُسْبُوْعُ is masculine singular noun.

c. أُسْبُوعٌ  means  week.

d. عُطْلَةٌ means holiday.



2. ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى بَيْتِ عَمِّيْ وَ بِتُّ فِيْهِ  يَوْمَيْنِ  = I went to my uncle's house and stayed there for two days.


a. ذَهَبْتُ  means I went.

b. ذَهَبْتُ  is from the verb  ذَهَبَ which means he went.

c. إِلَى  is harf jar

d. بَيْتُ عَمِّيْ  is mudaf mudaf ilaihi form.

e. بَيْتُ عَمِّيْ  means my uncle's house.

f.  وَ  means and

g. بِتُّ  means I stayed

h. بِتُّ  is from the verb بَاتَ  which means he stayed

i. فِي  is harf jar, in this sentence we add personal pronoun "هُ" , so it become فِيْهِ

هُ  refers to بَيْتُ عَمِّيْ , bayt is masculine singular noun, therefore the pronoun is هُ

j.  يَوْمَيْنِ   means two days.

k. يَوْمَيْنِ   is manshuub form of  يَوْمَانِ




3. فِي الصَّبَاحِ , رَأَيْتُ الْمَنْظَرَ =  I saw the scenery in the morning.


a. فِي الصَّبَاحِ  means in the morning.

b. رَأَيْتُ  means I saw.

c. رَأَيْتُ  is from the verb رَأَى which means he saw.

d. مَنْظَرٌ means a scenery; a view.



4. مَا أَجْمَلَ مَنْظَرًا  = what a beautiful view!


a. This sentence is the example of fi'lu at-ta'ajjub (verb of wonder).

b.  The pattern of fi'lut ta'ajjub is:

مَا + أَفْعَلَ

maa + fi'l maadi

fi'il maadi's pattern : af'alu, then the state of fi'il is mansuub, therefore it will become af'ala.

We will learn about fi'lu at-ta'ajjub later, in shaa Allah.



5. ذَالِكَ جَبَلٌ  =  That is a mountain.


a. ذَالِكَ  is demonstrative pronoun for far (at a far range from the speaker).

b. ذَالِكَ   is demonstrative pronoun for masculine single noun.

c. جَبَلٌ   means a mountain. It is single masculine noun.



6. إِنَّ الْجَبَلَ جَمِيْلٌ   =  indeed, the mountain is beautiful.


a. إِنَّ  is a particle inna, this particle make the noun (noun that follows the particle) in the mansuub state.

We use إِنَّ  in the jumlah ismiyyah for emphasis.

إِنَّ   can be translated as indeed, surely, verily, no doubt, etc.


b. جَمِيْلٌ   means beautiful.



7. أَنَا مَسْرُوْرٌ بِعُطْلَةٍ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ  = I'm happy to have a vacation here.


a. أَنَا  means I

b. مَسْرُوْرٌ  means happy; glad.

c. مَسْرُوْرٌ  is maf'ul from verb سَرَّ which means to delight; to make happy.

d. الْمَكَانُ means the place.

e. فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ means at this place; here.
