Principle of هَذَا
— Demonstrative pronoun in Arabic is called ism isharah (اِسْمُ اَلْاِشَارَةِ).
— Demonstrative pronoun for near object ( اِسْمُ اَلْاِشَارَةِ لِلْقَرِيْبِ ) ⇒ This.
— In Arabic, “this” is hadha (هَذَا).
— هَذَا is for singular noun (مُفْرَد) and masculine noun (مُذَكَّر)
Sentence Examples using هَذَا
This is a house : هَذَا بَيْتٌ
This is a mosque : هَذَا مَسْجِدٌ
This is a door : هَذَا بَابٌ
This is a book : هَذَا كِتَابٌ
This is a pen : هَذَا قَلَمٌ
This is a key : هَذَا مِفْتَاحٌ
This is a desk : هَذَا مَكْتَبٌ
This is a bed : هَذَا سَرِيْرٌ
This is a chair : هَذَا كُرْسِيٌّ
Interrogative Sentence using مَا and أَ
— “What is this?” in Arabic ⇒ maa hadha? ( مَا هَذَا؟)
— maa (مَا) in English ⇒ What
Usage of مَا : for asking irrational things or non-human, examples: non-living things, animals, plants, etc.
— Prefixing أَ is for yes/no question in Arabic.
The answer is yes (نَعَمْ) or no (لاَ)
Sentence Example using مَا هَذَا؟ and أَ
— What is this?
This is a house.
Translate them to Arabic:
مَا هَذَا؟
هَذَا بَيْبٌ
— Is this a house?
Yes, this is a house.
Say it in Arabic:
أَهَذَا بَيْتٌ؟
نَعَمْ, هَذَا بَيْتٌ
— What is this? This is a shirt.
We can say these sentences in Arabic:
مَا هَذَا؟ هَذَا قَمِيْصٌ
— Is this a key? No, this is a pen
أَهَذَا مِفْتَاحٌ؟
لاَ, هَذَا قَلَمٌ
